Will this kit work with all fractured screws?
No, it will not work with every fractured screw.
Firstly, it is important to make sure your implant system is compatible with this kit. See the compatibility guide. The kit will ONLY work with implants on the compatibility list.
Secondly, while our Fractured Screw Removal Kit is very popular, and works extremely well, it will NOT work in every single instance of a fractured screw. The kit is primarily indicated when the broken screw is fractured in the apical 50% of the implant chamber. In other types of fractures, other instruments maybe needed to remove the fractured screw. The Salvin Implant Rescue Kit is the same exact thing as our Fractured Screw Kit and Implant Removal Kit. It is simply a combination of both of those kits in once kit).
Why do I need guides to remove the fractured screw?
The guides protect the internal aspect of the implant body from the damaging effects of drills touching the threaded internal surface. The guide abutment system also allows the initial drill and the reverse tip to be positioned in the center of the broken screw.

Is there a guide (for the fractured screw removal system) that goes with the Straumann bone-level system? (which is not the same as the Octa that goes w/ Straumann tissue-level)
The Octa Internal guide that comes in the kit, will go with the Straumann Tissue Level implant, but not the Straumann Bone Level implant. For the Straumann Bone Level, please check out our Narrow Implant Broken Screw Removal Tool Kit.
Will this work to remove a broken locator abutment screw out of a 3I Osseotite implant 4.0 x 15?
For the 3i Osseotite implant, you would use the External Regular (W) guide that comes with the kit.
How much torque should I use with the tap drill?
The tap drill is only used to engage the free loading broken screw, to get it out. So there should be very little torque applied to it. The tap drill must be used with very low speed 15-30rpm and not too much vertical pressure at all. If you use too much torque, and apply too much pressure, the tap drill can break.
I need replacement drills for the fractured screw removal kit. Can I order just the drills?
Yes, you can order replacement drills. The Screw Removal Drill is SRD-01 and the Tap Drill is SRT-01.
Which guides are appropriate for a specific Nobel system and which are included with the kit?
Nobel Biocare’s implant systems are quite confusing. But, essentially, there are 3 different connections available: Tri-Lobe, Conical Connection (CC), and External. The External connection is used on the original Branemark implant line. The CC and Tri-Lobe are used on NobelReplace, and CC is used on the Nobel Active. Our kit includes guides that will work with the External connection for the Branemark (both Narrow platform and regular platform). The Kit also includes a guide that will work with the Trilobe Connection for NP platforms (3.5). However, for TriLobe connections for RP, and WP, you will need to purchase additional guides that are available thru our website. As for the Conical Connection (NobelActive and NobelReplace), these are not included in the kit, and need to be purchased separately thru our website. We only supply CC guides for the NP (3.5) , and RP (4.3, or 5.0).
